Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon J. P. Paje takes the helm of the 23-meter survey vessel BRP Hydrographer Cayetano Palma (inset) during a 10-kilometer cruise to Grande Island from Subic Bay Freeport Zone where commissioning rites Monday for the vessel and for BRP Hydrographer Andres Hizon.

The two new vessels will boost the existing survey fleet of the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) which include BRP Hydrographer Presbitero and BRP Hydrographer Ventura. All four vessels are outfitted with state-of-the-art underwater mapping equipment that can generate two- and three-D models of the sea floor. Also in photo is NAMRIA Administrator Peter Tiangco
