OVERVIEW

LYCEUM OF SUBIC BAY (LSB), Inc.

A non-stock, non-profit higher educational institution located at the heart of Subic Bay Freeport Zone, was established in June 2003. During its first year of operation, the institution was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the name, National College of Science and Technology, Inc. (NCST), with Mr. Alfonso E. Borda as its first President and Chief Executive Officer. The school started with only five lecture rooms, one computer laboratory, a small HRM-THRO laboratory and a small library with two hundred sixty (260) officially enrolled students. Fifteen of these were full scholars, working as Student Assistants (S.A). Despite the meager budget allocated for its operation, the school was able to furnish all rooms with brand new air-conditioning units, for a more comfortable learning environment.

This notwithstanding the reality, that the only resource to defray the enormous financial requirements of the institution, is from the minimal tuition fees of about nine to twelve thousand pesos charged per semester per student. The income therefore then, could barely suffice to cover the total operational expenses of the school. Moreover, some Incorporators were no longer interested in infusing additional investments. As a result, the school incurred delays in the payments of salaries and wages and other utility expenses. Realizing the gravity of the problem, the LSB President called for a meeting with the department heads and faculty members, where he laid down the financial difficulties of the institution. As expected, there were initial negative reactions. However, the President was able to persuade the majority to stay and continue teaming up with the management for the realization of the Vision and Mission of the institution. By the grace of God, the school survived the most critical years of its operation. From then on, the school has continuously experienced a dramatic annual increase in its enrollment, coupled with excellent performances of students in both the academic and sports competitions.

The influx of multinational companies at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, challenged the school to offer more relevant programs to respond to the manpower needs of the industry locators. On April 2005, the Board of Trustees approved the change of name of the school from NATIONAL COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (NCST) to LYCEUM OF SUBIC BAY (LSB). Since then, LSB has moved on to gain the patronage of clients, through quality and relevant program offerings, qualified mentors and excellent physical facilities. Today, it has become one of the leading educational institutions not only in the area, but in the whole region.

ACCREDITATION OF SUBJECTS

Accreditation of subjects shall apply only to currently enrolled or incoming students who have already been admitted to LSB, subject to the following conditions:

a. The subject was taken under any program offering of LSB or from other duly authorized higher education institution.

b. The subject content or coverage of both subjects are the same, although may differ in subject title.

c. In any of the preceding cases, the pre-requisite of the equivalent LSB subject must have already been passed.

Students applying for subject accreditation must observe the following procedures:

a. Authentication of documents by the College Registrar
b. Evaluation and validation by the Department Head
c. Approval by the Head, Academic Department

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES

a. Bring the admission requirements for validation at the Registrar’s Office and get the curriculum for the chosen course.b. Proceed to the Department Head of the course for evaluation of subjects taken.c. Submit admission requirements to the Registrar’s Office for Registration and Assessment. Payment of Official School Fees

a. Payment Schemes:
Payments maybe made either in cash or installments at the Cashier’s Office. Installment schedule shall be as follows:

• Down Payment – 50% of the total assessed fees to be paid upon enrollment.
• First Installment -on or before the first day of Prelim Exams.
• Second Installment – on or before the first day of Midterm Exam.

b. Refund of Payment:
Refund of payment for students withdrawing their en- rollment maybe allowed two (2) weeks after the opening of classes for any of the following valid reasons:
• Health
• Work schedule
• Change of residence

Withdrawal should be made in writing. Refund shall be made minus the following, whether or not he has actually attended classes:
• 25 % of the paid fee – if withdrawal is made within the first week.
• 50 % of the paid fees – if done within the second week.

Students who withdraw after the second week, shall be charged with all the school fees in full.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL (SHS) AT LYCEUM OF SUBIC BAY

The Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office, has granted Lyceum of Subic Bay Government Permit (SHSP) No. 044, s. 2015 dated May 15, 2015, to offer the Senior High School (SHS) or Grades 11 and 12, effective Academic Year 2015-2016. Actual operation shall start June of Academic Year 2016-2017.

The following Strands under the Academic Track shall be offered:

• ACCOUNTANCY, BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT (ABM)
• SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS (STEM)

The following Strands under the Technical-Vocational (Tech-Voc) Track shall be offered:

• HOME ECONOMICS (HOUSEKEEPING, FOOD AND BEVERAGE, CAREGIVING)
• INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ANIMATION)
