12TH Phil. Sudoku Super Challenge

SM Olongapo recently conducted the 12th Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge (PSSC) Regional Elimination round in partnership with DepEd and Mathematics Trainers Guild-Philippines (MTG) in cooperation with Philippine Star and Phoenix Publishing House.

The 12th PSSC regional elimination round was held simultaneously on October 14 at SM Supermalls/ Center in Cagayan De Oro, Dasmarinas (Cavite), Baguio, Cebu, Pampanga, Iloilo,

Lucena, Baliwag, Bacolod, Lipa (Batangas), Rosales (Pangasinan), Tarlac, Davao, Naga, Olongapo, Cabanatuan and San Lazaro. Meanwhile, the national finals is set on January 27, 2018 at Skydome, SM North Edsa.
Participants competed in the following categories: Sudoku Whiz Kid for elementary level; Sudoku Wizard for high school level and Sudoku Grandmaster for college level and professionals. A total of 100 participants were listed according to Ruel Emberga, education program supervisor of DepEd Olongapo.
Emberga said that the Sudoku contest is just one of the many Math contests that help students enhance their mental skills. “It will also prepare them to solve future life’s challenging problems.”
Dr. Roger L. Nuqui, MTG Coordinator Luzon cluster and Public Schools District Supervisor, DepEd Angeles City graced the event to give inspirational message to students and professionals who are into solving Sudoku puzzles. “And we would like to thank SM for continuously supporting us in this endeavor, we hope that our partnership will remain intact as we conduct this contest every year.”
The Philippines has already produced international sudoku contest winners in the past few years through the Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge. With the positive response of partners and schools Sudoku craze has rapidly growing , students from elementary and high school even professionals continue to develop their cravings in number games and puzzles.
The competition aims to develop the reasoning ability of the participants to further improve their mental and critical skills. It also offers an alternative past time among the youth.
