Dolorean Back to the Future Car
This car brings nostalgia even to those who haven’t even experienced driving this sports car, the DMC-12 DoLorean.

The DoLorean (DMC-12), a novelty car with historical significance made popular by the movie Back To The Future back in 1985. The car featured gull-wing doors and fiberglass body structure with a steel backbone chassis and was powered by the “Douvrin” V6 engine developed by Peugeot, Renault and Volvo (known as the PRV). The DMC-12 manufactured by DoLorean Motor Corporation 1981–1983 and was named after the owner of DMC — John Zachary DoLorean and about 9,000 DMC-12s were made before production halted in early 1983.

John started young and in his career designed several note worthy vehicles like the Pontiac GTO muscle car, Pontiac Firebird, Pontiac Grand Prix, Chevrolet Vega and later on the DMC-12 sports car. The was the youngest division head in General Motors history and went on his way to start DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) in 1973. A prototype of the DMC-12 named DeLorean Safety Vehicle (DSV) on October 1976 designed by Italdesign’s Giorgetto Giugiaro. Almost a decade after the company was founded, on the 21st of January 1981 the first dolorean rolled off of for production at Dunmurry, Belfast of Northern Ireland.

The US economic recession of 1980 considerably slumped the new car market and the DoLorean sales also took a hit and also poor sales was compounded by lukewarm reviews from the public and critics. Around February of 1982 the DMC Dunmurry factory was placed in receivership and was later seized by the British government.

There are around 7,000 unsold DMC-12 sports car and 3 known units was able to find their way in to the Philippines.
