With the coming yule festivities, do you count yourself among the ranks of the SMP (Samahan ng Malamig ang Pasko or Fellowship for the Christmas Blues-inflicted)?. Fear not for there may yet be more joining your group.
In a recent statistical report created by David McCandless, a data journalist, and Lee Byron, a Facebook engineer, the weeks before Christmas are a very bad time for people in relationships. (although, if you look at it in a different way, it might actually be a good opportunity for single men and woman looking to “hook up on the rebound”).
Specifically, the two weeks before December 25 (that would be the week starting December 10) are the worst offenders. The data was collected from Facebook users and is based heavily on the analysis of Facebook updates.
Nevertheless, a break-up is never an easy thing to go through. So what might spur such an act merely weeks before such a joyous celebration? Maybe it’s just an easy way out of having to buy a lavish present for your partner?
Kidding aside, the infographic also shows that breakups are at it’s lowest all throughout the year during Christmas day. Maybe it’s not in the spirit of the holidays to tell off your paramour?
