At the same time, Mamac vowed to strictly implement reclamation law and policies for the protection of all concerned.

Mamac’s action came after a number of local officials in Boracay Island were charged with criminal and administrative charges for neglecting their environment, causing pollution on the famed tourism Island resort.

In Bataan, Mamac noted that a number of companies and individuals were directly disposing their wastes into the rivers and waterways, endangering marine resources and the health of the public.

Prior to his designation as PENRO in Bataan, Mamac was sent by Secretary Roy Cimatu to help restore the clean environment in Boracay and charge those responsible for its environmental destruction.

“We are doing this for the safety of the public and protection of our environment, that is why we are bent really on running after those who are polluting our rivers and environment,” warned Mamac.

He said that it is their mandate in DENR to implement the laws for the protection of the public and the environment, a move welcomed by Gov. Abet S. Garcia.
